The 95mm Advantage: Architectural Weight & Superior Stability
While 90mm posts have long served as the UK industry standard, upgrading to a 95mm profile delivers a profound transformation in how your staircase feels. That extra 5mm across the face yields roughly 11% greater cross-sectional volume. The result is a much bolder visual anchor at the foot of your stairs and a noticeably firmer, vibration-free handrail grip.
Timber & Moisture Specification
Every post in our 95mm collection is engineered from prime American White Oak. To prevent the twisting, checking, and seasonal splitting common in thicker timbers, the raw stock is slow-kiln dried to a strict 8–10% moisture content before turning. The timber is supplied unfinished, sanded to a smooth 180-grit, ready to accept your chosen hardwax oil, stain, or lacquer.
Profile Breakdown
- Plain Square: Pure, minimalist geometry. Ideal for contemporary open-plan spaces and framing embedded glass balustrade panels.
- Stop-Chamfered: Features an eased 45-degree bevelled edge that softens the sharp corner, terminating just before the joint blocks for a crisp, tailored look.
- Fluted Stop-Chamfer: Introduces precision-routed vertical grooves down the central face. This catches hallway lighting to cast subtle shadow lines, visually elongating the height of the post.
