American White Oak Timber Sample

Oak

Oak is a beautiful timber used for internal joinery and has become incredibly popular over the last few years. J&J Stairparts has been supplying Oak predominantly connected with the staircase industry for 25 years (including strings, treads, newels, and handrails). As a company, we are extremely particular regarding colour matching. What will arrive on your doorstep are timber stair parts with very little colour variation, no sapwood whatsoever, and free from any knots—in fact, a truly first-class product!

Pine Timber Sample

Pine

Pine is a slow-grown Scandinavian wood. It is an economical, versatile timber that is perfectly suited for staining and painting to match your home's decor. You can be assured that all knots in the timber are sound and structurally secure.

Hemlock Timber Sample

Hemlock

The Hemlock we supply is sourced from the very North of the USA or Southern Canada. It is only suitable for internal use, is totally free of knots, and boasts a very clear, light-coloured appearance. It is highly sought after in the staircase industry for newels, spindles, and rails. While it is a softwood, it can be quite difficult to work with unless your tools are very sharp and cut clean.

American White Ash Timber Sample

Ash

American White Ash is a stunning, clear timber, meaning it is naturally free from knots and other defects. Sourced directly from America, it is of exceptionally high quality and highly recommended for use in the stair industry.

Sapele Dark Hardwood Timber Sample

Sapele (Dark Hardwood)

Sapele, predominantly sourced from West Africa, is a rich, reddish-brown hardwood. Although some parts of the Sapele logs will produce a straight-grain or 'quartered' effect, it generally has a more random grain appearance, making it liable to interlocked grain. Interlocked grain spirals around the centre of the tree, alternating intermittently and causing a 'rough' effect, which can generally be reduced (if not eliminated) by heavy sanding. Sapele is used for numerous mahogany-like products, including conservatories, door frames, solid wood doors, furniture, countertops, and of course, stair parts.
