J & J Stairparts Environmental Policy

J
& J Stairparts supplies Staircase Components in the UK using materials that are sourced from suppliers which match our commitment to the environment. We strive to minimize our ecological impact without compromising our high quality standards. J & J Stairparts is dedicated to minimising pollution, energy consumption and distribution overheads. Wood is a great renewable resource and, if managed sensitively, the extraction of timber is not detrimental to the global environment. On the contrary, wood is organic, non-toxic, recyclable and biodegradable. Equally as important, making stair components from wood requires less energy than materials such as steel or aluminium, meaning less carbon dioxide in the environment. All the timber we use is sourced from suppliers certified by the Forest Stewardship Council or Programm for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, and our eco-friendly attitude means that we do not use timbers listed by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. When these are specified, we will always suggest alternatives. We are continually developing our packaging and warehousing procedures to increase the content of recycled and recyclable material and have achieved waste reduction in the last few years.
